Circuit Breaker

The Illinois Department on Aging's Circuit Breaker program provides grants to senior citizens and persons with disabilities to help them reduce the impact of taxes and prescription medications on their lives. When the costs of property taxes and prescription medicines begin to "overload" seniors and persons with disabilities, this program steps in to help, just as a circuit breaker prevents overloads in an electrical system. Please visit the Illinois Department on Aging for more detailed information.

The King Center is able to assist in this application process. Please provide the following information:
  • Last year’s income
  • A rent receipt for showing the amount paid for rent
  • The property owner’s name, address, and phone number or if you own your home you need your property tax you paid last year
  • Identification and social security number
Once all the information is gathered, call the King Center for an appointment.
