This home was owned for more than 35 years by the same family, Edward and Marie Lundberg. Edward was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and later became a postal carrier. He was president of the Rock Island branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers. The Lundbergs had extensive family within blocks of the home.
Second owners of the home were Gary & Carol Kramer and third owners were David & Ellen Martin, who purchased the house in 1999.
Similar to the Clevenstine House, this home also features random stone in the chimney. However, in the Lundberg House, the granite boulders are large on the bottom, becoming smaller as they snake up the chimney wall. The stone follows a winding path upward, with brick surrounding. The chimney shoulder is topped with large stones. Leo A. Wood, the nephew of the first owner, said the chimney attracted so much attention that it drew people off 18th Avenue to drive by and see it. The chimney was crafted by his uncle, Urban J. Wood. Leo Wood also related that another dominant feature of this house, the beamed porch, was altered in the late 1920s when the Lundbergs built a garage for their first home. More special-order beams were added to the north, toward the garage. This Craftsman home was considered to be a “California Bungalow” by its first owners. The porch also exposes rafters liberally on the front porch. Here, stucco piers support square tapered wood columns. Walls are sided with narrow clapboard and there are large dripcaps. The dormer walls are covered with cedar shingles. The front dormer has three attic windows with vertical muntins beneath double drip caps. Typical of Craftsman homes, the braces and rafter ends are exposed. Some of the windows have been replaced and the minor facades have been altered.
