The City of Rock Island Government Access Channel is brought to you by the City of Rock Island Administrative Services Department. Channel 9 is intended to provide viewers with information about the City of Rock Island activities and events. In addition to City functions other organizations’ activities may be publicized. Listed below are the rules for non-city advertisement on Channel 9. For more information on this channel, contact the Administrative Services Department at 732-2050. The City of Rock Island Government Access Channel can be viewed on Mediacom Channel 9 throughout the City of Rock Island and Milan.
- City Council meetings are held on Monday nights at 6:45 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1528 Third Avenue. On May 15, 2006 an amended Ordinance was passed which eliminated the meeting on the last Monday of each month, with the exception of July and August, when the Council meets only the second and fourth Mondays. Click here for a schedule of City Council Meetings. City Council meetings are rebroadcast on Mediacom channel 9 on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
- School Board Meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesdays, unless otherwise announced, at 6:00 p.m. at the Rock Island High School Library. School Board Meetings are rebroadcast on the Thursday following each Board meeting at 6:00 PM on Mediacom channel 9.
- The Rock Island School District has dedicated airtime on Mediacom Cable Channel 9 for school district information. Each day at 7:30 a.m. and in the evening at 5:30 p.m., Mediacom Cable Channel 9 will feature only school district information for 30 minutes. Important dates such as open house, parent teacher conferences, and after school events and activities will be posted.
- The following weekly topics from the IL Channel will play Thursday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 2 a.m., and Tuesday at 10 a.m.

- Sen. Bill Brady (R), Candidate for Governor (30 min.)
- Rich Whitney (G), Candidate for Governor (25 min.)
- Patrick Hughes (R), Candidate for U.S. Senate (25 min.)

Rules for Non-City Advertisement on the City of Rock Island Public Information Channel:
- Event must take place in Rock Island
- Request must be from a Non-Profit Organization
- City public information channel application must be submitted a minimum of 5 days prior to event
- No advertisement to promote the sale of commercial products or services or any candidate for public office
- Organizations may not solicit funds for fundraising efforts
- No obscene or indecent material will be cablecast.
- No lottery related material will be cablecast
- Organizations receiving funding from the City of Rock Island will receive priority in programming
- Approval of all applications is made by the Personnel Director
- The City of Rock Island reserves the right to make changes to the above rules as warranted without notice
