Rock Island Auxiliary Police Patch
AUXILIARY POLICE

The Rock Island Auxiliary Police also welcomes retirees and individuals that are between careers. Anyone who has the time and energy to get involved with community policing is invited to apply.

Auxiliary Police Officers are sworn, highly motivated men and women between the ages of 21-55 who can participate in a highly competitive process that includes:

  • A physical agility test
  • Background investigation
  • Oral Interview

Successful applicants will be provided with uniforms, equipment and training, including a mandatory 40 hours firearms course provided by the Rock Island Police Department at no cost to the Auxiliary Officer.

Duties include:

  • High visibility directed patrols
  • Traffic and crowd control at community events
  • Road patrol with full-time officers
  • Emergency call outs for road closures
  • Assist full-time officers during special details
  • Render first aid in emergency situations
  • Direct traffic during accident investigations
  • Bicycle Patrols
  • Park Patrols
