  • Back of legal pad of paper
Office Paper
  • Office paper – all colors
  • Office paper with staples
  • Shredded paper
  • Glossy paper (newsletters & magazines)
  • Phone book
  • Envelopes (even with plastic windows)
  • Post it notes
Mixed Plastic Containers
  • Remove lids, rinse & clean
  • Plastics #1 - #7
  • Milk or water jugs
  • Laundry detergent bottles
  • Beverage containers
  • Butter dishes
  • Yogurt cups
Metal, Steel, Tin & Aluminum Cans
  • Rinse & clean. Labels can stay on.
  • Aluminum foil

Unacceptable Items

Glass*, aerosol cans, liquids, appliances, ashes, building materials or scraps, ceramic plates and cups, clothing, containers containing combustible liquids, electronics, furniture, garbage, paint cans, plastic bags and grocery bags, plastic motor oil containers, Styrofoam, tires, toys, windows and mirrors, waxed or plastic coated paper, Ziploc and plastic sandwich bags, or yard waste.

*Glass is only accepted at the Rock Island Recycling Drop Off Center (16th Avenue and 24th Street/Water Treatment Plant)
