RECYCLING CENTER

The communities of East Moline, Milan, Moline and Rock Island are hosting regional drop-off recycling sites as part of the program sponsored in part by the Rock Island County Waste Management Agency (RICWMA). RICWMA contracts with City Carton Recycling for the processing of the recyclable materials. The sites are listed below. Recyclable materials will be collected from each site through a two-stream process.

The regional collection sites include:
  • East Moline – 901 Avenue of The Cities (42nd Avenue) at Fire Station
  • Milan – 451 W. 4th Street
  • Moline – 3635 4th Avenue at Public Works Department
  • Rock Island – 16th Avenue and 24th Street at Water Treatment Plant

Residents should place materials in the large commingled containers as follows:

Separate containers will be provided for a mixture of washed and clean:

  • Plastics #1-7 (milk jugs, detergent, shampoo & liter bottles, food containers, etc.)
  • Tin cans and aluminum cans
  • Glass of green, brown and clear colors

Separate containers will be provided for a mixture of fiber, including:

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Chipboard or boxboard
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Mixed office paper
  • Phonebooks/Textbooks
  • Brown paper bags

Unacceptable Items:

Aerosol cans, Any liquids, Appliances, Ashes,Building materials or scraps, Ceramic plates and cups, Clothing, Electronics, Furniture, Garbage, Paint cans, Plastic bags, Styrofoam, Tires, Toys Windows and mirrors, Yard waste!!

General Site Reminders:

The regional drop-off sites are NOT for Yard Waste, Hazardous Materials, or Garbage. Violators dropping off these materials will be prosecuted. Refer to the following links for proper disposal of Household Hazardous Materials, White Goods, RICO Permitted Landfills.

Beverage cans and bottles are accepted for recycling only. No deposit return or money is paid for these items.

Please remove any strings and/or plastic bags before depositing materials in the recycling containers.
