The City of Rock Island collects refuse for its citizens at no additional cost. Residential refuse is collected once a week. To find out what day your regular refuse will be collected or for other questions, call the Public Works Department at (309) 732-2200. The City of Rock Island also participates in a regional recycling program sponsored in part by the Rock Island County Waste Management Agency (RICWMA). RICWMA contracts with City Carton Recycling for the processing of the recyclable materials. The City of Rock Island now offers curbside recycling. To fill out an application for curbside recycling please click here. Measures are also taken to ensure that citizens are aware of proper disposal of hazardous household materials, discarding old appliances, and proper disposal of other items.
