Fireworks Permit

Requirements
Fireworks are illegal to possess or use in the City of Rock Island unless a permit has been issued for a professional display. These permits are issued by the Office of the Fire Marshal only if several requirements are met.

The Office of the Fire Marshal issues permits to licensed professional pyrotechnical personnel for the display of fireworks in the City. The Fire Marshal reviews specifications of the type of fireworks used, visits the site to identify potential problems, and issues the permit in accordance with all code requirements.

Application Fee Required

The filing fee for an application is $50.

Permit Application Process
For a fireworks permit to be issued, the person seeking the permit must contact the City Clerk office at City Hall, 1528 Third Avenue, to be added to the City Council agenda no less than two weeks prior to the meeting. The applicant must have City Council approval to receive the final permit.
