The Rock Island Public Library is seeking qualifications from qualified firms for the design, development, and project oversight of the Downtown Library renovation project. Final design and construction of proposed renovations will depend on the approval of the Rock Island Public Library Board of Trustees. Project Scope of Services The scope of services will include, but is not limited to, the following: - Conceptual design and construction costs of:
- Moving the current children’s room from the ground floor to the first floor, including:
- Replacing the shelving and furniture in the new children’s area;
- Adding a first-floor, ADA-accessible family restroom adjacent to the children’s area;
- New combination desk to house all public services, including circulation and reference workers;
- New public computer stations for teens and adults to accommodate 12 computers;
- Update restrooms on the ground level (former children’s room, public restroom, and staff restroom) to be ADA-compliant;
- Update restrooms on the first floor (all-gender and women’s) to be ADA-compliant;
- Update the south entrance vestibule;
- Replace (level and resurface) the south parking lot with handicap-accessible parking, curbside pickup, and a book return location;
- Remove wallpaper, prepare and paint all walls throughout the building;
- Replace flooring throughout the building;
- Replace all windows throughout the building;
- Update electrical throughout the building, adding new outlets to accommodate technology.

The qualifications should contain the following information, plus any other information deemed pertinent by your firm: a. Examples and brief synopsis of comparable projects, including recent clients that may be used as references; b. Qualifications, experience, and availability of key professional and technical staff, including any anticipated subcontracted work; c. Location of the office which will perform the work, and designation of the project manager and any additional team members; d. Proposed “Scope of Services” and the anticipated schedule, showing the estimated time frame for completion of the required services. e. Fee for Services

Evaluation Criteria Each proposal will be reviewed and judged against the evaluation criterial listed below: a. Experience of the consulting firm and staff with projects of this type. b. Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, creativity, and application of the appropriate products, techniques, and standards used for the design and construction of similar entities. c. Fees for services. d. Projected time schedule to complete this project. After review the firm’s qualifications, the Board Buildings & Grounds (B&G) Committee will make its selection based upon the evaluation criteria. One or more firms submitting qualifications may be asked to participate in an interview, at the firm’s own expense, with the B&G Committee. The firm’s staff member(s) responsible for the completion of these projects is/are required to attend the interview.
