An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Staff will be sharing upcoming plans and ways the public can get involved in transforming the heart of our community. The Open House is free and open to all.
Free Comic Book Day
The Rock Island Public Library will celebrate Free Comic Book Day this Saturday, May 3 by giving away comics for all ages and a cartoon drawing class with local caricature artist Bill Douglas. Visit the Rock Island Downtown Library on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to grab a free comic while they last. Attendees of all ages can learn how to create a comic book page with the Draw with Bill cartoon class, offered from 12:30 to 2pm, also at the Downtown Library. Broadway Mother's Day Tour
The Broadway Historic District Association is planning a Mother’s Day tour of five of Rock Island’s oldest historic homes. The tour will take place Sunday, May 11, from noon to 4 p.m. and will feature the main floor of some of the oldest houses in Rock Island. Two of the featured homes are Buford Mansion and the Plummer House. All homes are within an easy walk. Tickets are $20 each, and available at the door of any of the homes.
