About the Region
Rock Island is part of the Quad Cities metro region on the Illinois / Iowa Mississippi River border. The Quad Cities is served by interstates 80, 280, 88, and 74, with direct interstate access to Chicago markets. Rail is supplied by BNSF, Canadian Pacific, and Iowa Interstate, a regional carrier. Barge terminals are prevalent.
