The City of Rock Island has scheduled an open house Public Information Meeting to present the proposed improvement to the 1st Avenue corridor in the City of Rock Island. The limits of the project will extend from 15th Street to 24th Street or just west of the Arsenal Bridge Viaduct. This Viaduct provides access to Arsenal Island by way of the Arsenal Island Bridge. 

The Public Information Meeting is being held in an open house format, which means that interested citizens can attend any time that is convenient from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The meeting is accessible to persons with disabilities. 

Citizens are encouraged to view the exhibits, provide comments, and ask questions about the project. The meeting will address topics including the need for the project, the conceptual design, planned detour routes, right-of-way acquisition information, and the tentative project schedule. Temporary construction easements will be required for the construction. City staff and members of the consultant team will be available to answer questions. 

The purpose of the project is to reconstruct the deteriorating 1st avenue corridor from 15th Street to 24th Street. Local side street detours will be in place during construction. The proposed detour routes will be shown at the meeting.
