Get ready to shoot your shot and support a great cause at Rock Island Parks and Recreation’s Battle of the Buckets, a one-day community basketball fundraiser at the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center (RIFAC) Rec Gym on Saturday, March 7.

This ultimate shooting and free throw competition for participants of all ages to compete on the same court in a high-energy, fun family-friendly environment. From young athletes to adults, competitors will test their range and accuracy in a timed shooting contest featuring two-pointers, free throws, and three-pointers of increasing difficulty, along with a classic free throw contest to crown division champions. Participants will be divided by age groups, with staggered competition times throughout the morning and early afternoon.

For an additional small donation, participants can also enter Knockout and a Beat the Coach/Celebrity Challenge. Local “celebrity” guests will appear at each time slot, including Rock Island Mayor Ashley Harris, and Local 4 News WHBF TV anchor Andy McCray, helping bring extra energy and excitement to the court. Concessions and event merchandise will be available.

Following the main competition, Buckets for All will take place as a featured inclusive event designed specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. This adaptive timed shooting contest provides athletes the opportunity to shine in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere while earning points from progressively challenging court spots.

All proceeds from this one-day fundraising event benefit the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Foundation Financial Assistance Program, which helps ensure individuals and families in need have access to recreation opportunities.

This event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of South Rock Island Township, Rock Island Township, Gas & Electric Credit Union, The Arc of the Quad Cities, and the stations of OurQuadCities, WHBF, KLJB, and KGCW.

Registration is $15 per participant. For age division times and to register, visit https://bit.ly/BattleBuckets or call (309) 732-7275 x 1 for more information.
