From an ugly sweater craft, paper ornaments, cinnamon art, and card making for seniors, the Rock Island Public Library has a program for your holiday needs this December.
Holiday-themed events at Rock Island Libraries include:
You can spread some holiday cheer by dropping by the Children's Room of the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, anytime during library hours until December 22. The library will offer supplies and art materials to create a holiday card for a senior resident at Fort Armstrong Assisted Living in downtown Rock Island. Completed cards will be delivered by the library to Fort Armstrong on December 22, just in time to bring cheer to someone's day.
Make your own ugly Christmas sweater with a free craft for adults on Thursday, December 7 at the Rock Island 30/31 Library, 3059 30th Street. You bring the sweater, and the library will supply the (ugly) decorations. The tackier, the better! The event will be offered from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the branch's bookstore/program room. No registration is needed, and the event is free.
If it's a booklover's present you need to make, Book Spine Bookmarks and More might be your solution. The craft for all ages will provide the materials to make bookmarks and mini-book Christmas ornaments on Monday, December 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, also at the 30/31 Library. It is free, but registration is required. Call 309-732-7341 or sign up online at www.rockislandlibrary.org, "Find Events."
