The final week of March brings more unique learning opportunities for adults at Rock Island Public Library.

On Wednesday, March 28, guest speakers will tackle both sides of the food waste issue. Kristin Bogdonas, nutrition and wellness educator for Illinois Extension, and Liz Hogan-Wells, vice chair of the Food Rescue Partnership of the Quad Cities, team up to offer a free program on "Reducing Food Waste at Home." Explore food waste issues in the United States, discover creative uses for food scraps, and learn how to "rescue" food by composting. Participants will learn about different composting methods, containers, what to compost, how to care for a compost heap, and the benefits of compost. The event includes giveaways and lots of resources for you to take home. The free event takes place from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Rock Island Downtown Library's Community Room, 401 19th Street.

Did you know we had a wrestling academy in the Quad Cities? Are you curious about the life of a professional wrestler? Sure, you can always check out a book, but what if you could check out a person? Learn straight from the source, when the library brings in local professional wrestler Marek Brave for a Q&A session from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 31, also in the Downtown Library Community Room. Brave is the promoter and head booker of Scott County Wrestling in Davenport and lead trainer for The Black and Brave Wrestling Academy in Moline. Free, all ages/family.

Both events are free and open to the public.
