April brings some amazing learning opportunities for adults to the Rock Island Public Library, including a Seed Library preview, a look at the magic of Disney, and a Bad Art Night.

Seed Library Sneak Preview: Monday, April 2, at 6:00 pm, Rock Island Downtown Library. Rock Island Library is introducing its new Seed Library with a sneak preview for home gardeners. The free event will answer questions about what the Seed Library is, what it will offer, and who can take advantage of it. Special guest Annissa Groe, of the Rock Island Horticultural Society, will also answer general gardening questions.

Explore the Magic of Disney, with Dr. Bruce Storey, Wednesday, April 4, 2:00 pm, Downtown Library. Do you think you know Disney? Maybe not as well as you could. Dr. Bruce Storey knows how Disney makes magic for its guests, having visited 30 times since 1971. As part of the Disney College program, Storey has been behind the scenes at Disney, viewing the underground at the Magic Kingdom, cast member housing, and the workings of Epcot. He will share the “tricks” to getting around Disney and how to best take advantage of your time. Additionally, Dr. Storey will pull back the curtain on the magic, sharing on how Disney instills expectations, Disney traditions, and trains cast members. Learn how the magic happens!.

The library's Coffee and a Movie Morning series continues Monday, April 9, with a free movie for adults at 9:30 am in the Downtown Library Community Room. The newly released movie, set against the drama of a conflict in Olympic ice skating, is rated PG-13. The event is free and includes coffee and donuts.

The library offers a no-pressure night of fun and creativity for adults with Bad Art Night at the Library, Wednesday, April 11, 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Downtown Library. Participants will use the library's stockpile of leftover art supplies to make purposely bad art. The worst art piece wins a tacky trophy. Who says you can't craft? With bad art, anyone can!

Later in April, the library provides a chance to catch up with your favorite Marvel superheroes before the next movie comes out. Marvel Movie Night will be offered from 5:00 to 7:30 pm on Monday, April 16 at the Downtown Library. The featured movie is based on Marvel's best-selling crossover storyline "Civil War" comic (Team Cap or Team Iron Man - you decide!) The event includes free popcorn, a Marvel libguide, and the movie. With a PG-13 rating, the movie is intended for teen and adult audiences.

April events for adults also include Retro Gamers Club, offered from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18 at the Downtown Library. The event provides adults with a chance to play retro video games and consoles of the 1980s, 90s and 00s. The library thanks Video Games ETC! for their support of this event.

Additional events for adults in April include four library book clubs, an "Observe and Learn" T-shirt Quilt class, and a series of free financial education events offered during Money Smart Week Quad Cities, including a free Community Shred Day.

All of the above events are free and open to the public.
