Local vocalist Tony Sconyers headlines the Rock Island Library's Tuneful Tuesday, bringing us the music of Nat King Cole.
Just in time for both Valentine's Day and Black History Month, local vocalist Tony Sconyers brings the Nat King Cole songbook to the Rock Island Downtown Library on Tuesday, February 5. The free lunchtime concert is from noon to 1:00 pm in the Library's second-floor Community Room, 401 19th Street.
Sconyers, accompanied by Iowa City pianist Dick Watson, will share songs and stories about the noted singer just before the 100th anniversary of Nat King Cole's birth in March. From the romance of "Unforgettable" to the jaunty jazz flair of Route 66, you'll hear the songs that brought the singer enduring fame.
The event is part of the library's ongoing Tuneful Tuesday music series, which presents live music over lunchtime on the first Tuesday of each month. Participants are welcome to bring lunch and enjoy some free music.
