St. Patrick’s Day Parade - The 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be Saturday, March 16 at 11:30 am, starting at 23rd Street and 4th Avenue in Rock Island. Parade floats, bands, vehicles, and walkers will head through downtown Rock Island, across Centennial Bridge and continue its course through Davenport. Post Parade Parties – After the St. Patrick’s Day Parade has concluded, stay in Rock Island and enjoy the post parade festivities. Some of the various outdoor festivities include Steve’s Old Time Tap at 17th Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenues from 9:00 am. Daiquiri Factory will hold their annual Shamrock Shakedown on the downtown plaza from 9 am to 12:30 am, and Kavanaugh’s Hilltop Tap’s annual Paddy O’Party at 1228 - 30th Street will be from 12:00 pm to midnight. Sound the Alarm – The American Red Cross is gearing up for ‘Sound the Alarm’ initiative with a goal to reduce home fire fatalities by installing free smoke alarms and helping people create home fire escape plans. On Wednesday, March 20, 2019 the Red Cross will host an all day appointment telethon, so people can call in and make appointments for fire alarm installations. There are no eligibility requirements.
