Free Leaf Bag Collection - The City of Rock Island is providing leaf collection for its residential refuse customers starting Monday, April 15 through Friday, May 3, 2019. Customers must place the leaves in the approved paper yard waste bags and be placed at the normal refuse collection locations and days. Fair Housing Legislative Breakfast - Community members are invited to attend a meeting of local, state and national legislators to discuss fair housing, community progress and other issues. This 3rd Annual Legislative Breakfast will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center (MLK Center) on Monday April 15, 2019 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. Representative Mike Halpin, Senator Neil Anderson, Representative Tony McCombie, and a representative from Congresswoman Cheri Bustos’ office will be in attendance. Breakfast will be served. Picnic Shelter Reservations – Rock Island Parks and Recreation is currently accepting picnic shelter reservations for the 2019 season. Reservations can be made over the phone or in person at the park office at the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center, 4303 24th Street.
