Each year, people in Rock Island have an opportunity to nominate residents who have contributed to the Rock Island community. Nominations are now being taken for the 2019 Rock Island Citizen of the Year Awards, sponsored by the Mayor and City Council.
There are seven categories for Rock Island Citizens: Business, Professional, Education, Individual, City Employee, Organization, and Youth. There is a special category for someone that does not live in Rock Island, but has contributed to the good of the community. This person/organization is not eligible for the overall Citizen of the Year award, but may be nominated as the Honorary Citizen of the Year.
An online nomination is available at: www.rigov.org/COY. The nominee’s address, telephone number, and email address must be included so they may be contacted. It is important for nominators to include their name, telephone number, and email address so they can be contacted for additional information if necessary. The deadline for receiving nominations is June 7, 2019. Nominators may nominate more than one person for the award.
