On Friday, June 14, 2019, 38th Street will be closed to northbound traffic between 18th and 21st Avenues due to asphalt paving. Southbound 38th Street traffic will be permitted. We anticipate that this work will start around 12:00 pm (noon) and will be completed within about 3 to 4 hours, weather pending.
Northbound traffic will be detoured west on 21st Avenue, north on 30th Street and then easterly on 18th Avenue.
The City wishes to remind motorists and pedestrians that the 38th Street and 18th Avenue resurfacing projects are ongoing and to exercise caution and expect potential delays due to the construction work. Please follow all posted construction signs for detour directions as needed and watch for trucks entering and leaving the construction zones.
Two of the City’s major north-south arterial streets: 17th Street and 30th Street will remain open and free of construction activities during this project.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times during construction along at least one side of the roadway.
The City of Rock Island is sorry for any inconvenience due to this road work and appreciates the patience and consideration of the traveling public
