Activities in Rock Island at Schwiebert Riverfront Park begin at 5:00 pm...

Red, White and Boom activities will be held July 3, 2019 in downtown Davenport, Rock Island Schwiebert Riverfront Park, and Arsenal Island. This Independence Day celebration will bring one of the Midwest’s largest fireworks displays to the Quad Cities, along with live music and a variety of family activities. Red White and Boom has joined with Townsquare Media’s 97X, to broadcast the music for the fireworks.

Red, White and Boom will host a unique bi-state fireworks display on the Mississippi River, firing from the Rock Island Arsenal beginning at 9:30 pm.

Activities in Rock Island at Schwiebert Riverfront Park begin at 5:00 pm with children’s inflatables to climb, bounce, race, and slide on ($5 wrist band), food vendors and a Bent River Brewing Company Beer Garden.

At 5:00 pm a special military tribute will honor our Armed Forces as well as a proclamation to celebrate the history of collaboration and accomplishments of Rock Island and Davenport. DJ Jeff James will kick off the stage activities at 5:15 pm with live music with the Country Couch Potatoes. At 6:30 pm a performance by Metropolitan Youth Program Drill Team of Rock Island will perform. We will then welcome to the stage Past Curfew, an 80’s tribute band at 7:00 pm. The Red, White & Boom! fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 pm. Firework music will be heard throughout the park or tune in to 96.9 FM (97X) to hear the music during the show.

Dinner fare, desserts and beverage concessions will be available throughout the park from multiple vendors starting at 5:00 pm. All ages are invited onto the Great Lawn, where ID will be required to purchase beer from Bent River Brewing Company, which will be selling its popular Uncommon Stout in addition to a number of other favorites. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. The following are not permitted in the park: outside alcohol, glass, tents, sparklers, and fireworks. Coolers and bags will be checked at the gate. Please do not bring dogs or other animals to this event.

Schwiebert Riverfront Park entertainment and activities are presented by Rock Island Parks and Recreation, with additional support from the City of Rock Island including the Police & Fire Departments as well as Rock Island Happy Joe’s Pizza, Unity Point-Trinity, Jumer’s Casino and Hotel, IA/IL Center for Independent Living, Midwest Complete Construction, Quad City Botanical Center, Virdi Eye Clinic, Rock Island Optometric Center, Tri-city Building Trades, Friendship Manor, and the Associated General Contractors of the Quad Cities. Visit for a full listing of event activities on the Rock Island and Davenport Riverfront.

Free parking will be available downtown in the parking ramp, and on the street. First Avenue will be closed from 17th to 20th Street, and both parking lots in Schwiebert Riverfront Park will be closed.

For those intending to watch the fireworks spectacle from the Mississippi River in a boat, please follow all directions on event day from official boats including the United States Coast Guard and local law enforcement agencies. The Schwiebert Riverfront Park Boat Docks will be open for boaters to enjoy during this year’s Red White and Boom event. The docks, with 23 slips, will be available on a first come-first serve basis and no reservations for slips will be taken. The docks will close at 8:45pm for the fireworks show, and boats will not be able to enter or leave the docks until after the fireworks show has finished. We encourage boaters to come into the park and enjoy the live music, food, and family fun. All people that arrive by boat and would like to enjoy the event, will be given a wrist band. This wrist band will allow the person to re-access the docks to get back on their boat. Extra wrist bands will not be given out to the public to access the boat docks.
