The City of Rock Island is alerting motorists of a temporary road closure to through traffic. Beginning Wednesday, July 3, 2019, pavement restoration will begin at 1310 25 Avenue. Through traffic on 25th Avenue will be restricted between 12th and 17th Streets. 13th Street will still be accessible from 12th Street. 15th Street will be accessible from 17th Street. Access to the high school will not be restricted.
The closure is necessary to complete pavement restoration due to a water main break. Estimated completion time of the project is ten days. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be placed in the immediate work zones starting July 2nd.
Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes through the duration of the project. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs around the work zone, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
