If your perfect day involves chocolate, mark your calendars for January 25 and February 22 at the Rock Island Public Library.

If your idea of the perfect day involves chocolate, the Rock Island Public Library is the place to be on January 25 and February 22.  The Downtown Library will host two Chocoholic Paradise events that allow chocolate lovers to learn more about their favorite treat.

Chocoholic Paradise features a talk and demonstration from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 25 at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. Local expert Randyl Mohr will introduce the art of chocolate making with a brief talk and demonstration about chocolate production and breadth of flavor combinations, as well as a tasting of samples from Chocolate Manor.  Registration is not required for this first program.

For those who are inspired by this brief taste of the chocolate maker’s art, the library will offer a hands-on learning experience in chocolate making with Randyl Mohr later in February. The Chocoholic Paradise Create class occurs from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, also at the Downtown Library. Participants will develop their own chocolates. Registration is required, with enrollment opening at 1:00 pm on January 25.

Both events are designed primarily for adults, although teens ages 15 and older may also register for the chocolate making class.

To sign up for the February 22 event, visit the library’s online calendar or call 309-732-7343 on or after January 25. The hands-on workshop is limited to 15 persons. Class participants are not required to attend the first event to register.

For more information about Rock Island Public Library events and services, visit the library website or call 309-732-READ. Rock Island Library events are also listed on Facebook and at Burbio.com.
