Effective March 17th, the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is temporarily closing the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center to members and the public and suspending all scheduled programming including sports, special interest classes, fitness classes, camps, and preschool through March 29th. “We are taking all necessary steps to protect the health and safety of our community by following the recommendation of health officials in order to combat the community spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus)” says Todd Winter, Assistant Director.

The office will remain open, and staff is working on rescheduling programs and activities if possible. If an activity cannot be rescheduled, activity fees will be credited for future use. RIFAC memberships will be extended for the amount of time we will be closed.

Though programming is suspended, the outdoor parks will remain open. The Underwater Spring Egg Hunt scheduled for March 29th has been cancelled, and the Spring Egg Hunt at Lincoln Park scheduled for April 4th will be rescheduled. As the situation continues to evolve, the Parks and Recreation Department will make the public aware of additional changes. If you have any questions please contact Rock Island Parks and Recreation at (309) 732-7275.
