Rock Island Parks & Recreation programming and facilities including the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center will remain closed until May 31st
The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is extending the closure of programs, events, and facilities through the end of May following the Illinois governor extension of the Stay at Home order. The exception is Highland Springs Golf Course and Saukie Golf Course, which plan on opening on May 1st under strict state social distancing guidelines.
At this time, picnic shelter rentals, which typically start April 1st, will be on hold until further notice.
Summer activity registration including sports, recreation, and camps will be on hold until further notice.
Outdoor city parks will remain open, however restrooms and playgrounds will remain closed. Please use social distancing with visiting parks.
The Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center will remain closed but will be offering virtual group fitness classes. Registration links can be found on the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center Facebook page.
As the situation continues to evolve, the Parks and Recreation Department will make the public aware of additional changes and virtual class opportunities through social media and at www.rigov.org. Questions may also be sent to parkrecmail@rigov.org.
