Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is opening up more in Phase 4...

As our community reaches Phase 4 Recovery in the State plan to restore Illinois, scheduled to begin June 26th, the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is making plans in accordance with the state guidelines. The Department will be able to open up more programs and facilities while staying within safety guidelines.

The Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center is scheduled to open on Friday, June 26th. All amenities will be open with the exception of the steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool, and indoor playground. Members will need to wear face coverings when not exercising, maintain social distance of at least six feet, and sanitize equipment and exercising areas before and after each use. Indoor and outdoor land fitness classes will be available, as well as water fitness classes and swim lessons. New class sessions will begin June 29th. Participants can register online at www.rigov.org/epark or by phone at (309) 732-7275 or in person.

Parks and outdoor recreation will be open but the public should continue to maintain social distancing. Shelter rentals for groups of 50 or less will now be accepted. Park playgrounds and restrooms will be open. Once Illinois Department of Public Health detailed aquatics guidelines are released, Schwiebert Riverfront Park fountain will be turned on if allowed.

Whitewater Junction Aquatic Center is ready to open once phase 4 aquatic guidelines are released from the Department of Public Health.
A Drive-in Movie will be held on July 11th at the Campbell Sports Complex, and Starlight Revue Concerts in the Park will resume on Tuesday evenings during the month of July with social distancing guidelines in place.

Please continue to follow our social media and website to keep up to date on all of our recreational offerings and most recent information.
