Families with preschoolers can register now for Hug-A-Book; Create, the Rock Island Public Library's early learning event, and make camping crafts together.

The Rock Island Public Library’s August Hug-A-Book early learning event will help families learn and play together with a kit of at-home camping crafts for their children ages six and under.

Registered participants will pick up their Campers, Create! Kit, which contains a new book to keep, and all the supplies needed to make camp-related crafts, including coffee-filter campfires, craft stick tents, tube binoculars, lightning bugs, and complete an at home scavenger hunt outside. Attendees can then log into the Hug-A-Book Zoom meeting at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 25 to make the crafts along with Children’s Librarian Miss Ranell. The Zoom link will be sent by email from the library.

To register, visit the library events and spaces calendar at the library website or call the Children’s Department at 309-732-7360.

Hug-A-Book presents four early learning events each year, with activities based on music, reading, play, and creativity.  Events are presented at no charge, and are made possible with funding from the Merrill Harris memorial fund of the Rock Island Public Library Foundation,
