If you’re looking for a creative way to express your appreciation for 150 years of library service in Rock Island, entries are still open for the Rock Island Public Library’s 150 is Pretty Nifty Bookmark Contest.   Entries will be accepted through Saturday, December 10 at all Rock Island Public Library locations.

The bookmark design contest is open to all ages, and any decorating medium. Entrants should feel free to express their love for the library, a favorite book, author, or anything else library related in paint, ink, watercolor, or any other combination of materials and mediums. Prizes will be awarded for top entries in the Children, Teen, and Adult age categories. Your bookmark design may also end up in print, on the library Facebook page, and be preserved in the library’s 150-year time capsule.

The entry form, which includes the bookmark blank for decorating, is also available at all Rock Island Public Library locations. Be sure to complete your name, email or phone, and age category before submitting your finished bookmark for entry.

The bookmark contest is one of more than 40 events planned to celebrate the library’s sesquicentennial year. Events run through November 2023. For details, pick up a 150th anniversary events guide or visit the library events calendar.
