[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made In Shooting

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at approximately 2:35 p.m. the Rock Island Police Department responded to the 500 block of 30th Street in reference to a domestic dispute.

While enroute to the area, it was learned a suspect fled the scene on foot and was observed in possession of a handgun. Shortly after, a caller advised approximately four shots were fired in the area and officers learned that a residence in the 600 block of 28th Street had been struck by gunfire. Officers conducted a search of the area, located the suspect, 18-year old Jaiden H. Carver, and engaged in a foot pursuit. Officers observed Carver discard a handgun before taking him into custody in 2600 block of 5th Avenue. A loaded 9mm handgun was also recovered. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the domestic dispute, but no other injuries or other damaged property was reported.

Carver was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, Domestic Battery, and Resisting Arrest. Carver is being held without bond at the Rock Island County Jail pending first court appearances on these charges.

The incident remains under investigation by the Rock Island Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division; no further information is available at this time.
