The Rock Island Downtown Library will receive a much-needed overhaul of its only elevator from Tuesday, February 14 through Friday, February 17. Curbside service only will be available while work is in progress.
The Rock Island Downtown Library building is getting a much-needed overhaul of its only elevator from Tuesday, February 14 through Friday, February 17.
No public access or walk-in traffic to the building will be available while work is in process. Curbside pickup only will be available for picking up holds. Patrons who would like a book pulled for curbside pickup may call the Circulation Desk at 309-732-7323. The library will be open with stair access only on Saturday, February 18.
Existing holds may also be picked up via curbside delivery. Patrons with mobility issues or who want to browse for items in person are urged to visit the Library’s Southwest or Watts-Midtown Branches. Locations and hours for those branches are as follows:
Rock Island Southwest Branch: 9010 Ridgewood Road
Monday/Tuesday: Noon to 8pm
Wednesday-Friday: 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday: 10 am to 2pm
Rock Island Watts-Midtown Branch: 2715 30th Street
Monday-Thursday: 9 am to 8 pm
Friday: 10 am to 6pm
Saturday: 10 am to 2pm
The Downtown Library will reopen to public access with a restored elevator at normal hours Monday, February 20. Downtown Library hours are 10 am to 6pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays.
