Calling all gardeners!

The Rock Island Public Library has opened its Seed Library. Stop by the downtown library branch at 401 19th Street from now through September. Anyone may pick out five FREE seed packets per household, per month. No library card is required. Choose from a selection of vegetable or flower seeds.

The next Parks Wine & Dine fundraiser is this Thursday, April 13 at QC Coffee & Pancake House, 1831 3rd Avenue. Register by Tuesday, April 11th by calling 309-788-9589. The cost is $85 per person. 

And finally, the City of Rock Island would like to recognize its emergency service dispatchers

The week of April 9th to the 15th is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. The City of Rock Island currently has 13 telecommunicator positions who handle more than 34,000 911 calls and another 190,000 calls for service annually. Every day, millions of people depend on the skills, expertise and commitment of the men and women who work in public safety telecommunications. These individuals help save lives by answering emergency phone calls, dispatching emergency professionals and equipment and providing moral support to citizens in distress.
