Join the Rock Island Parks & Recreation Department for Party in the Park on June 7 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Denkmann Park, 5th Street and 6nd Avenue.
Party in the Park marks the completion of various park upgrades, including new basketball courts, playground rehabilitation, picnic shelter upgrades, ADA sidewalks and pathways, and a new drinking fountain. The event aims to bring community members, local businesses, elected officials and city staff together for an evening of festivities.
Attendees can enjoy free food, including hotdogs, popcorn, and Kona Ice (while supplies last) and activities such as a bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, magic tricks, and music provided by DJ Pieler Productions. More than 13 businesses and organizations will have booths to showcase and discuss their services.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. to commemorate the park upgrades. Elected officials, city staff and members of the community will be present to socialize and discuss opportunities for growth in the community.
