[ARCHIVED] Animals from the Blank Park Zoo, More Fun for the End of June at Your Library

Animal "ambassadors" from Blank Park Zoo, of Des Moines, will make a special diplomatic visit at the Rock Island Public Library’s Watts-Midtown Branch on Monday, June 26.

Children and their families can enjoy a free show by Blank Park Zoo at 11 am on Monday, June 26 at the Rock Island Public Library's Watts-Midtown Branch. The free presentation features opportunities to meet small zoo animals, and learn about nature and conservation. All ages are welcome, and registration is not required.The show is part of the library’s “Find Your Voice” Summer programming, offered through July 31.

Additional events offered for the end of June at the Rock Island Library include:

  • Anime and Manga Trivia, Tuesday, June 27, from 6pm to 7pm, also at the Watts-Midtown Branch. Fast-moving trivia game for all ages, where individuals and groups can compete for prizes and bragging rights.
  • Children’s storytimes: Tuesday, June 27, 10:30 am at the Watts-Midtown Branch; Wednesday, June 28, at 11 am at the Southwest Branch; and Friday, June 30, at 10:30 am, at the Watts-Midtown Branch.
  • Quad City Arts Metro Youth Poetry/Improv performance: Thursday, June 29, 11:30 am to 12:30pm, Watts-Midtown Branch. Live performances from summer apprentices in the Metro Youth poetry and improv programs.
  • Illinois Storm Chasers, Friday, June 30, 2pm to 3pm, Watts-Midtown Branch. Nick Bartholomew, of Illinois Storm Chasers, presents on 10 years of storm chasing and severe weather experiences. Learn more about severe weather and local climatology.

The above events are all free and open to all.
