After a two-week vacation break, the Rock Island Public Library2Go bookmobile will resume regular routes on Monday, July 31. The rolling library visits a number of business locations, with school stops starting August 8.

After a two-week vacation break, the Rock Island Public Library2Go bookmobile will resume regular routes on Monday, July 31.

Standard stops for the traveling bookmobile are as follows:

Mondays: Goodwill of Rock Island parking lot, 1:30 to 2:30 pm; Martin Luther King Community Center, 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Tuesdays: Pop-up stops and School routes (see below)

Thursdays: South Rock Island Township office, 10 am to 11:00 am; Centennial Shelter Park on Big Island Road in Milan, 1:30 to 2:30 pm; School stops from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm (see below.)

Alternating after-school routes on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons start the week of August 8. The bookmobile alternates between two sets of schools, with each week labeled as either a “Red Route” or a “Gold Route,” in honor of the Rock Island High School colors.

  • Red Routes, weeks of August 8, 22, and Sept. 5: 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays at Longfellow Elementary and Thursdays at Ridgewood Elementary.
  • Gold Routes, weeks of August 15, 29, and Sept. 12: 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays at Frances Willard Elementary, and Thursdays near Earl Hanson Elementary and Edison Jr. High.

Pop-up stops are the library’s term for one-time or occasional visits at a business or organization. To arrange a pop-up, call the library’s bookmobile coordinator at 309-732-7338.
