The free program is for teens ages 12 to 17 and features hands-on laser cutting and virtual reality projects. It’s from 5pm to 7pm Nov. 16 in the Watts-Midtown Branch conference room, 2715 30th Street. Snacks and water will be available. The event is free but does require registration. To sign up, visit the event on the library website or call 309-732-7341.

STEAM on Wheels is a non-profit organization that provides students with learning opportunities that may not be available in a traditional classroom. Volunteers in the STEAM field lead science experiments, hands-on projects, and introduce students to possibilities in STEAM fields. The office is located in the Family Museum.

A second STEAM on Wheels program with hands-on projects is scheduled for Saturday, January 20 from 10am to noon at the Rock Island Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road.

Both events are funded through a Project Next Generation grant to the Rock Island Library from the Illinois State Library. PNG grants are funded by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds provided to the Illinois State Library by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

For more news about events and services at the Rock Island Public Library, visit the library website, follow library social media, or call 309-732-READ.
