Show some love by supporting the Community Comforts Drive
The Rock Island Public Library is hosting its Community Comforts Drive through the month of February. The library has partnered with the Heart of Hope Outreach Center and the Rocky Resource Room at Rock Island High School to take donations of household supplies and personal care items.
Bright pink donation boxes are available until March 1 at all three library locations. Donations could include shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soaps, toilet paper, toothpaste, new socks, laundry detergent, diapers, and more.
Heart of Hope Ministries operates a community outreach office at 1740 9th Avenue, Rock Island, that offers a drop-in food pantry and weekly homebound delivery option. Rocky Resource Room, located at Rock Island High School, provides a discreet, no-judgment way for high school, junior high, and elementary school students and families to pick up food, clothing and personal care supplies.

The MLK Center is one of eight sites that will host the VITA program. The center will be a walk in only in-person tax filing site with volunteers available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
