[ARCHIVED] Police Department New Online Reporting System

Police-DORS-File-Report-Online

The Rock Island Police Department would like to introduce our new online reporting system.

If you need to report a problem or file a police report for an incident that is not an emergency and occurred with the city limits of Rock Island, you may now have the option and convenience of using DORS (Desk Officer Reporting System). In addition to filing police reports, our online reporting system provides an easy way to request extra patrol, report lost property, or make a complaint on nuisance issues such as abandoned vehicles or parking complaints.

WHY ONLINE REPORTING?

Giving our citizens the OPTION of online reporting is just a new service we offer and is not intended to replace the ability for anyone to personally meet with an officer, report a problem or report a crime.

HOW DO I FILE A REPORT ONLINE?

Simply to go www.rigov.org/67/police and click on the File Report Online button. Once there, you can choose from a list of eligible criminal offenses, or request assistance with issues such as recurring traffic concerns, reporting a neighborhood dispute, or reporting an animal complaint.

AM I REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A REPORT ONLINE?

Being a victim of a crime is stressful enough, online reporting is just another tool you can use to make things easier. No one is required to complete a report online, you can always meet with a Police Officer, a Community Service Officer, or speak with a Customer Service Assistant at our front desk or over the phone on our non-emergency line: 309-732-COPS (2677).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I FILE AN ONLINE REPORT?

Police Department staff will review your report and determine if further follow-up is needed. Depending on the particulars of the case, it may get assigned to personnel for further investigation. You can print off a draft copy of the report for your records and you can always contact us to check on the status of your case.

BEFORE YOU FILE ONLINE:

Remember, if there is a crime in progress or there is an immediate threat, always call 9-1-1.

Please make sure your contact information (phone number and email) is accurate in case we need to reach out to you.
