Crews have located and isolated the water main break, and repairs are underway. Water service has now been restored to most residents in the affected area (between 24th Street and the Moline border, and from 31st Avenue to the Rock River).
Boil Order Reminder:
The boil order remains in effect for all customers in the impacted area. In Illinois, a boil order is issued whenever system pressure drops below 20 psi, because that level can allow contaminants to enter the water system. As a precaution, residents should boil all water used for drinking and cooking until further notice.
Water main breaks can occur due to aging infrastructure, temperature changes, or shifting soil, and crews are working quickly to ensure safe and reliable service.
The boil order will remain in effect until the water has passed all required testing, which typically takes 24 hours once samples are collected.
