Escape to Book Island this Winter – and Keep Moving Forward with Your Reading Goals! If you’ve resolved to read more in 2026, the Rock Island Public Library offers some fun encouragement and a chance to escape the winter blahs at the same time with the Escape to Book Island Winter Reading Challenge.
The Rock Island Public Library Escape to Book Island challenge is open from Monday, January 12 to Saturday, February 21. It’s for anyone, including read-to-me preschool ages, school kids, teens, and adults. The simple bingo card challenge for readers of all ages offers motivation to keep reading and visiting your library this winter.
To participate, register online or pick up paper forms, then track reading and activity milestones for everyone in the family. Read-to-me time for preschoolers counts toward goals for both parent and child. Reading time is cumulative, so reading 30 minutes one day and 30 another completes both a 30 minute and 60-minute square.
All reading and all reading formats count – print books, eBooks, audiobooks, illustrated novels and comic books, and bedtime stories. Read what you like, but if you need ideas, check library displays for warm beach reads!
Complete bingo in any line once to win the completion prize. Fill the whole card to enter a special bonus drawing!
- Bingo style challenge with squares for reading time and library activities
- Enter and participate anytime between January 12 to February 21
- Pick-up prizes at any Rock Island Public Library by February 28.
For more details, check the Escape to Book Island post on the library website. Visit the library's Beanstack website or app to participate online. The Beanstack app or website will keep track of your achievements, and let you know when you’ve won a prize. Or visit the library website or any Rock Island Library for the paper form. If you’re entering on paper, keep track as you go.
