Fire Station 4
Description:
Fire Station #4 was built in 1973 and services 18th Avenue to the Rock River west of 24th Street. This area includes Sunset Marina and Blackhawk State Park.
The following vehicles are housed at Fire Station #4:
Engine 34: Engine 34 is a 2016 Pierce Engine with a 2000 GPM water pump. Engine 34 responds from 18th Ave to Big Island and serves as an ALS vehicle. Each ALS engine is staffed with at least one paramedic and carries ALS equipment. . Other equipment carried on all engines includes general firefighting appliances such as hose and ladders, hand and forcible entry tools, 4 Scott SCBAs (air packs), a 4-gas monitor, and a thermal imaging camera. Truck 31 also carries water and ice rescue equipment.
Decontamination Vehicle: For a hazardous materials incident, the Rock Island Fire Department along with MABAS 43 can respond with this vehicle. This vehicle is designed to decontaminate people and/or property that have been involved in any hazardous materials incident. This vehicle is on standby and can be called to respond to anywhere in the State of Illinois.
