  3. Sunset Park Cleanup Day

    Participate in the United Way Day of Caring and join Rock Island Parks and Recreation staff at Sunset Park on Thursday, September 19th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm for a community service opportunity to help beautify the park. Projects that will be available will be: cleaning up debris along lake and riverfront, shoveling silt from flood by Skafidas playground, replacing bench boards on benches, painting base posts, spreading mulch at playgrounds, painting the picnic shelter, installing hand rails to docks, and more. Please wear long pants and gloves. We will provide small hand tools and other items. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm, sponsored by Alderman Randy Hurt. Meeting location is the large pavilion off Sunset Drive. To sign up to volunteer yourself or a group please call (309) 732-2277 for more information.
