The City of Rock Island offers a Curbside Recycling Subscription Program which any Rock Island citizen or business may join.
The City of Rock Island has a contract with Republic Services to provide recycling services.
Recycling collection is divided into six (6) curbside recycling routes and will be collected every two weeks.
Please refer to the 2025 Curbside Recycling Collection Schedule or the 2026 Curbside Recycling Collection Schedule and a list of items that can and cannot be recycled.
The Holiday Collection Schedule will indicate if recycling collection will be delayed due to a holiday.
To sign up (or cancel the program), just submit an on-line Recycling Service Start/Stop request. This link will take you to the City's "Report A Concern" SeeClickFix software, enter the address, then choose "Recycling Service Start/Stop" under the Request Category.
If you enter your email address, you can stay up-to-date regarding the status of your request.
As of January 1, 2012, electronic items are banned from Illinois landfills.
For a list of drop-off recycling sites, please visit the Rock Island County Waste Management Agency (RICWMA) website for recycling options and guidelines.
The Rock Island County Waste Management Agency (RICWMA) is a municipal joint action agency serving thirteen governments in Rock Island County which includes the City of Rock Island.
