The City of Rock Island requires property owners to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property, and public welfare as regulated by the International Property Maintenance Code with City amendments (IPMC). The IPMC applies to all properties. Please view the Guide to the Rock Island Housing Code.
Conditions that determine a property to be substandard are as follows:
Faulty materials of construction
Inadequate fire protection or firefighting equipment
Hazardous mechanical equipment
Protection fire hazard
Hazardous or unsanitary premises
If you believe a property is in violation of the IPMC, contact the Inspection Division.
