Permits Issued by Public Works

Concrete/Flatwork Permits for driveways and sidewalks, as well as Grading & Drainage Permits for Stormwater are issued by the Public Works Department (309) 732-2200.

Permits Issued by The Inspection Division

General Construction Permits 
Required when erecting or modifying any new structure on a commercial/industrial/multi-family property or when adding on to any existing commercial/industrial/multi-family structure. The same permits are also required when erecting or modifying any residential property or when adding on to any existing residential structure.

• New Construction Permit
  •  Includes but not limited to: garages, pole barns, sheds, fences (over 6 feet), retaining walls (4 feet or higher from the footing), loading docks, truck scales, and cell towers
• Addition/Remodel Permit 
  • Includes any alterations or repairs to the existing structure including but not limited to siding, windows, doors, soffit, facia, drywall, egress windows, basement waterproofing, etc.
• Roofing Permit
  • Required for roofing whenever replacement/repairs exceed 100 square feet. For requirements, click here.
• Demolition Permit
  • Required for demolition of buildings or parts of buildings. For requirements, click here.
• Swimming Pool Permit Packet 
  • This completion of this permit packet is required for the installation of above ground or in-ground pools holding more than 24" of water.
• Sign Permit
  • Required for all sign work. For requirements, click here.

Mechanical Permit

Utility Turn On Permit
Required in order to restore gas and/or electric to any changed structure. For requirements, click here.
